Restorative yoga is a practice for the nervous system and the art of letting go. This style of yoga is very nurturing, relaxing, and quieting for the entire body, mind, breath, and spirit. It is a softer yoga practice offering deep rest in which props are used to help the body release tension and stress. Restorative yoga helps calm and reset the nervous system, leaving the practitioner feeling refreshed. This style of yoga is also a perfect complement to the more vigorous types of yoga, individuals seeking to really slow down and let go, or for those with injuries looking for a gentler yoga practice. Afternoons are an ideal time to practice since the circadian rhythms naturally begin to drop after lunch and the body will be able to surrender more deeply. No previous yoga experience necessary. Props: You will need a bolster, 2 blankets, 2 blocks, and a sandbag. If you do not have these props, please contact me and I can offer suggestions of common household items you can use instead.
