Yoga Teacher, E-RYT 500
Welcome and thanks for visiting! My intention is to provide you with tools to bring balance and refreshed energy into your life, and to guide you to live with more peace and calm through the practice of yoga.
I am an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT 500) with the Yoga Alliance, as well as a continuing education provider for yoga teachers. I have been teaching yoga for over eighteen years and practicing for twenty-three. My teaching experience includes working at yoga studios, fitness centers, corporate settings, and privately with individuals. I received my 200 hour certification through Integrative Yoga Therapy with Joseph Le Page and my 500 hour advanced certification with Theresa Murphy and Dan Boyne. This training was in classic hatha yoga, with a focus on five element theory, the subtle body, and yoga therapeutics.
My degree in psychology allows me to fuse both my academic and yogic studies to create yoga classes that offer a blend of flow, therapeutic yoga, and the elements and qualities of yin and yang. My teaching style takes an individualized approach which considers the unique needs of each student, bringing yoga to where they are. Inquiring if there are special requests, observing the energy level of the class as a whole, or considering the time of day and season, evolve into a creative, intelligent sequence with an unfolding theme as we begin to flow through yoga postures. Modifications of yoga postures are always provided in order to customize yoga poses for each student’s body so they may have a safe and enjoyable experience. Students are also encouraged to intuitively move at a comfortable pace and honor their body.
In my classes, you will discover muscles you never knew you had by bringing freedom to your body through deep stretching and safely using your own body’s weight in building strength, all while learning basic yoga anatomy and how it applies to your body and yoga practice. As the body and mind become connected together through breath and movement, you will feel energized yet relaxed, with a sense of joy and liberation in your spirit.
